TPC Chair Welcome

Dear NSBE Professionals,

I look forward to seeing you in Baltimore, Maryland, next March for the Technical Professionals Conference (TPC) of NSBE’s 2026 Annual Convention (#NSBE2026). This event — our 30th annual TPC — is centered on the theme “Advancing S.T.E.M. — Shaping the Future.” This convention is our time to shape the future, transform our communities, empower excellence, and mobilize innovation.

As NSBE Professionals, our goal is to “inspire the next generation of technical professionals and serve as a catalyst for transforming the culture of engineering.” The vision for the 30th Annual TPC is that you will grow technically, succeed professionally, and receive opportunities to positively impact the community. As an organization of Black technical professionals, we are breaking barriers, advancing our technical expertise, and succeeding professionally.

TPC offers innovative experiences tailored to meet the needs of every NSBE Professional, as well as those who have yet to join our organization — from early-career professionals to seasoned industry leaders. We invite you to attend the Technical Professionals Conference at #NSBE2026 to learn, network, receive training, and inspire the next generation of young Black scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians who will follow in our footsteps.

On behalf of the National Professionals Executive Board and the TPC Planning Committee, we welcome you to Baltimore for TPC30, on March 18–22, 2026.

Advancing S.T.E.M. and the mission,

Temitayo Akinrefon
2026 Technical Professionals Conference Chair
National Society of Black Engineers

PCI Chair Welcome

Dear Future Makers,

My name is Kayla Scott, and I’m honored to serve as the Pre-College Initiative (PCI) Conference Chair for NSBE’s 2026 Annual Convention. As a mechanical engineer and bioengineer turned science teacher, I’ve experienced firsthand the power of being both a builder and a guide. I bring to this NSBE leadership role a deep passion for STEM education and intergenerational mentorship—values that will shape every part of your Convention experience.

This isn’t just a conference. It’s a movement.
NSBE Jr. isn’t a side stage. It’s center stage.
And you are the reason why.

Our 2026 Convention theme, “Advancing S.T.E.M. — One Convention. One Story.”, invites us to break down silos and build a legacy — together. Every moment has been designed to support your NSBE Jr. NEXT Journey, from bold academic challenges and real-world STEM experiences to healing spaces, design labs, and the return of our reimagined NSBE Jr. Innovators Main Stage, formerly the Pre-Torch Awards.

You’ll connect with engineers, researchers, designers and mentors who once stood where you are now, dreaming big and building the confidence to pursue those dreams.

My hope? That you leave Baltimore next March feeling seen, heard and unstoppable. Because the truth is: you’re not just the future. You’re already part of this legacy.

Fueling the future with NSBE,

Kayla Scott
PCI Conference Chair,
NSBE 2025–2026 Convention Planning Committee

GSC Chair Welcome

Hello, NSBE Family.

Baltimore has always been a city with unique charm. Next spring, ”Charm City” will add to that allure by opening its doors to a community of Black graduate scholars shaping the next era of innovation in science, technology and engineering. I am honored to serve you as chair of this event, the Graduate School Conference (GSC) of NSBE’s 2026 Annual Convention.

Whether you are curious about graduate school, knee-deep in your thesis or sprinting toward defense, this year’s program is built for you. Our sessions unfold against a backdrop of world-class campuses — Morgan State, Johns Hopkins, UMBC — and a growing tech corridor where start-ups, federal labs and social enterprises share blocks with neighborhood coffee shops.

Day
Emphasis
Wednesday, March 18
Vision-setting dialogues and a Harbor-side welcome
Thursday, March 19
Skill studios, career conversations, industry roundtables
Friday, March 20
Wellness, peer circles, community impact sessions

A few staples will anchor the week:

  • Graduate Lounge – Quiet work in the morning, flash talks by afternoon, informal link-ups after dark
  • Peer Circles – Small, identity- and discipline-based groups for support
  • Local Spotlights – Short features on Baltimore labs and community tech hubs
  • Mindfulness Zone – Guided practices that keep balance front and center

Final details will emerge over the coming months. Before then:

  • Refresh your résumé or CV and business cards.
  • Prepare to make connections with new academic peers.
  • Set aside time to explore — walk the Inner Harbor, tour an HBCU lab, sample some Berger cookies at Lexington Market.

Baltimore is ready for your questions, your research and your vision. I look forward to meeting you at the harbor and supporting an amazing Annual Convention experience.

Cheers from the Charm City,

Dunsin Fadojutimi
GSSC Chair,

Justification Letter

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like). It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. Dear NSBE Family

It is with immense gratitude and excitement that I welcome you to the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) 2026 Annual Convention, hosted in the vibrant city of Baltimore, Maryland — located in the Model Region, Region II! As the 2026 Convention Planning Committee chairperson, I am honored to lead this legacy-defining experience, rooted in purpose, pride, and possibility.

NSBE has shaped my story in ways I never could have imagined. I’ve gone from a quiet girl from Delaware, unsure of her place in this space, to someone who now boldly carries the torch for the next generation. NSBE believed in me before I believed in myself. And that belief is what we’re channeling into every detail of this Convention.

Our theme for #NSBE2026 is Advancing S.T.E.M., a phrase that challenges us to go beyond the acronym and embrace the four pillars that support our movement:

  • Shaping the Future by leading in AI, green tech, and STEM education reform;

  • Transforming Communities by dismantling systemic barriers and paying it forward;

  • Empowering Excellence through mentorship, professional development, and access;

  • Mobilizing Innovation by daring to build, lead, and reimagine the world we want to live in.

This year’s Convention isn’t just about programming; it’s about people. Whether you’re a student attending your first NSBE event or a seasoned professional shaping industries, this week is designed for you. Our team has worked tirelessly to create an experience that speaks to the heart of who we are: builders, leaders, change agents, and family.

We are excited for what’s ahead — from our reimagined General Sessions and vibrant Career Fair to our powerful community engagement efforts and unforgettable speaker moments. But most importantly, we’re here to make space: for your growth, your network, your joy, and your legacy.

Join us March 18–22, 2026, in Baltimore, for a Convention that doesn’t just reflect who we are but propels us toward who we’re becoming.

With NSBE love and that 2HYPE pride,

Jazmine Bullock
2026 Annual Convention Planning Committee Chairperson
National Society of Black Engineers
