About NSBE
Who We Are
Founded in 1975, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-governed organizations based in the United States. With more than 25,000 members and more than 700 chapters in the U.S. and abroad, NSBE supports and promotes the aspirations of collegiate and pre-collegiate students and technical professionals in engineering and technology. NSBE’s mission is “to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.” For more information, visit www.nsbe.org.
The 2026 Annual Convention will take place Wednesday, March 18 – Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the Baltimore Convention Center located at 1 W Pratt St., Baltimore, MD 21201.
Our Impact
Our Impact
NSBE is committed to equipping all students and professionals with the technical expertise, leadership skills, and industry connections needed to drive economic and technological progress. As the U.S. talent and consumer market grows more multifaceted and digital transformation accelerates global interconnectivity, the demand for a forward-thinking, solutions-driven workforce has never been greater.
To meet this need, products, services, and the workforce driving their development must be built with a strategic approach that reflects the evolving landscape. NSBE plays a vital role in this reality by ensuring Black engineers—long at the intersection of cultural and STEM innovation—have access to the education and opportunities necessary to help shape the industries of tomorrow. While we welcome all, our focus on empowering Black engineers goes beyond representation; it is about contributing to the future success of institutions across academia, corporate sectors, and society as a whole.
NSBE is a vital partner in developing and connecting top engineering talent to meet the demands of an increasingly multifaceted and global industry.
We stand committed to working within institutional policies to ensure that NSBE chapters remain operational and accessible to all students interested in STEM.
We remain a place of empowerment, growth, and opportunity for the engineering community seeking to make an impact.
