My passion for NSBE was ignited my freshman year at Pitt. I began my NSBE career on the Finance Committee at the University of Pittsburgh. I then became the Academic Excellence Chair and Retention Coordinate at the University of Pittsburgh where we won Retention Chapter of the Year, TORCH chapter of the year, and National and Regional Chapter of the Year.
I am motivated by my love for mentoring others, I believe my legacy is only lived by those who I have helped reach their highest potential. In the future, I see myself as a Vice President of Human Resources of a Fortune 500 company ensuring that there is a clear pipeline that facilitates the growth, retention, promotion, success of minority employees.
I want to see Convention have more of a focus on developing the surrounding community. I think Convention has a unique opportunity to breakdown the negative stereotypes and barriers that African-Americans face in that city. I wish the world would eventually appreciate the value and unique perspective African-Americans bring to the world showcasing this perspective in a positive light and giving credit to the innovation that we bring to this world.
